Electronic Poker is a popular game that can be played in casinos all over the world, or in your house on your PC, through a net connection. The regulations are very simple and consist of the player attempting to get the highest combination of cards as you can in order to come away with money. In this respect it is much the same as a normal game of poker, minus the involvement with competing players. Of course, tactics used in a real-life game of poker, such as bluffing, will be useless here.

The game of Electronic Poker starts when the gambler inserts credits (either tokens, credit slips or cash) into the machine and presses the deal button. A hand of 5 cards will be "handed out" on the video screen.

The Video Poker machine also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and enthusiasts should now pick which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the bettor wishes to keep, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any number of cards they wish, whether it is all or none.

After the gambler has chosen which cards she would like to keep, the player will then press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards will be given out if desired. The round is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the cards to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the payment schedule.

Normally, the minimum winning hand on an Electronic Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the prize money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, 4 of a kinds, straight flushes and finally royal flushes. It is obvious that the payment schedule can change from game to game, so that experienced enthusiasts are agile enough to select the most profitable game each and every instance.

After the initial round has finished, the player can either choose to remain on in an attempt to increase their earnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any money that might have been won. Further, some styles of the game allow the player an opportunity to double their winnings, in which case another game is played. There are also variations among specific machines, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other varying aspects to increase playability.
